The blouse is for women what the shirt is for men. Blouses are usually rather formal and worn as office wear. Blouses are most often combined in an outfit with either a costume or a trouser suit. An individual note is struck through a multitude of variations in the choice of fabric, colour combination, tailoring, lining type, buttons, collars, cuffs, blouse bottoms, backs, colour of thread, pockets, monograms, shoulder straps etc. This way a blouse can be made to stylistically match the rest of an outfit. This is without a doubt the most important criterion when buying a blouse. The collar should be neither too tight nor too loose and at the same time the shoulders, elbows, bust and waist should not be constricted. The ideal arm length should end exactly at the wrist.
